Was this room designed for a pirate or captain? Both! As Nigel and his Dad enjoyed boating together, Mom didn’t want the fully decked out Pirate theme, however Nigel wanted full out skull and bones, so keeping the theme simple was the key. This design process started with a consultation with the family to discuss ideas, suggestions, paint color and recommendations (melding Mom and child’s ideas together). The paint color I recommended was Benjamin Moore 2119-50 Nickel and here were the ideas we started with….
I also created a shopping list of other accessories to compliment the room keeping within the budget. While they were busy getting the room painted and buying the accessories, I began making the custom wall decor.
This name plaque was purchased years ago (one of my first creations – an original, one of a kind hand painted plaque).
Pillow accents found at HomeSense and Ikea. Wall decor made by Homeworks Etc.
Add a few skull and bone wall hooks…
Bedding from Brunelli. This vintage patch work quilt with red bed sheets adds a pop of color to this space.
It’s such a pleasure designing this space, to create and personalize this room, just for Nigel. Feel free to leave a comment below. I look forward to hearing from you.
